Mount Faber, Singapore. 105 m

View of Mt Faber Summit or Faber Point from Telok Blangah Crescent.

Date Climbed: 26th of Dec. 2020

Route: Keppel Hill Reservoir Trail (startpoint: the Kapok Tree@Seah Im Carpark)
Starting elevation: ~10 m
Elevation gain: +95 m
Hike distance (one way): <1.0 km

This off the beaten trail (plus a detour) includes several other interesting points of interest. Our start point was beside a large Kapok tree at the edge of Seah Im Carpark.

Not far into the trail, is the remnants of an air raid shelter.

Beside the air raid shelter, we went up a pretty steep slope. There are ropes to help guide us up the slope. Not too far after topping the slope, we reach Keppel Hill Road (You can also access Keppel Hill Road from Wishart Rd). A fork from the road and traipsing through some muddy trail led us near to the Keppel Hill reservoir, an abandoned water tank which also functions as a swimming place. We did a detour and went up a trail uphill westward and reached a brick stairways leading up to a Japanese tomb erected during WWII, for an employee of the Mitsubishi Heavy Industries.

Backtracking to the Keppel Hill Reservoir, we then took a path up, at the eastern end of the reservoir.

Some scrambling and route finding brought us to a terrace, which is part of the Mt Faber park proper, although it seems rather unvisited.

From there, it is an easy walk up the stairs to Faber Point.

We de-hilled via the Marang trail, for a hearty breakfast at Seah Im Hawker Centre.
